FAQs
General
Our sweaters are knit and constructed in Brooklyn with American-made ribbon and high quality imported yarn. Did you know mills in Brooklyn used to make more than 50% of sweaters sold in the U.S. We are committed to fostering local business and are proud to be part of a movement to bring knitting back to the U.S.
Grosgrain ribbon is a woven ribbon with a distinctive horizontal weave. It is durable and lustrous in appearance. Its history dates back to the 17th century when it was first used for trimmings on clothing. U.S. ribbon makers are known for their striped designs. We celebrate U.S. ribbon makers and use ribbon made in American mills. Some of our ribbon is vintage and not readily available. All of our ribbon is carefully selected and paired with our sweaters to create unique combinations that can only be found at Noyac Knits.
We source our ribbon from New York, and all our grosgrain ribbon is woven in the U.S. Some is vintage and hard to find or available in limited quantities. We are proud to support American ribbon makers.
We use high quality imported yarns that are 100% merino wool and 100% cotton.
No! Our superfine merino wool has a soft feel that is naturally hypoallergenic. It is lightweight, breathable, naturally moisture wicking. It provides a perfect layer but also can be worn on its own against bare skin.
We use Biella Yarn, a beautiful merino wool. It is produced in Italy and Romania. The yarn has a soft feel that is comfortable even against bare skin.
We use Egyptian cotton yarn. This cotton is exquisitely soft and lightweight, yet durable. It feels silky against the skin and is very breathable.
Our specially dyed buttons are made in America to coordinate with our ribbons and yarns. We source our buttons from the famous LouLou Buttons in New York City.
Our creative process involves carefully selecting each ribbon, yarn and button combination to create unique sweaters. There are endless shades of pinks, greens, blues, and purples that we consider to create a color pallet for each color combination. Some of our ribbons are vintage and not readily available. Some patterns we have chosen to make only a limited quantity so they are special for each customer. We want you to LOVE your special sweater and know that it is not mass produced but rather made for you. Sign up for an email notice to learn about new color combinations.
We make limited quantities of our sweater color/ribbon combinations and do not always restock items. However, we offer new color/ribbon combinations throughout the year. Visit our online store to find new color/ribbon combinations and buy them before they sell out.
