Fabrics and Materials
We use high quality imported yarns that are 100% merino wool and 100% cotton. Some of our products are made from imported EcoViscose. All of our yarns are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified.
We use Biella Yarn, a beautiful extrafine merino wool. The wool comes from sustainably-minded farms in Australia who comply with the IWTO animal welfare rules. It is then processed and dyed in Italy and Romania. This fabric is biodegradable and Bluesign certified. The yarn has a soft feel that is comfortable even against bare skin. It is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified.
No! Our superfine merino wool has a soft feel that is naturally hypoallergenic. It is lightweight, breathable, naturally moisture wicking. It provides a perfect layer but also can be worn on its own against bare skin.
We use Filmar cotton produced in Italy and sourced primarily from Egypt, known for long and extra long fibers that make for superior thread. This cotton is BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals), and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, made with a low environmental impact in mind. Our cotton sweaters are durable, soft against the skin, and machine washable.
EcoViscose is an easy-care stretch viscose that wears well all year round. We use Lenzing Ecovero in our EcoViscose knitwear produced in Austria, China and Indonesia. The Viscose is derived from certified renewable wood sources. It meets FSC standard to help create a cleaner environment. It is also Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. Our EcoViscose knits are also made with 28% PBT, which is a high performance polyester that offers natural, long-lasting elasticity to the knits. This fabric is smooth and soft to the touch with a slight stretch, machine washable, antibacterial, and moisture wicking.
We source our ribbon from New York, and all our grosgrain ribbon is woven in the U.S. Some is vintage and hard to find or available in limited quantities. We are proud to support American ribbon makers.
Grosgrain ribbon is a woven ribbon with a distinctive horizontal weave. It is durable and lustrous in appearance. Its history dates back to the 17th century when it was first used for trimmings on clothing. U.S. ribbon makers are known for their striped designs. We celebrate U.S. ribbon makers and use ribbon made in American mills. Some of our ribbon is vintage and not readily available. All of our ribbon is carefully selected and paired with our sweaters to create unique combinations that can only be found at Noyac Knits.
Our specially dyed resin buttons are made in America to coordinate with our ribbons and yarns. Our shell buttons are from Japan. We source our buttons from the famous LouLou Buttons in New York City.

It depends on the fabric.
Merino wool should be dry-cleaned for best results. However, merino wool also can be hand washed in cold water and laid flat to dry.

Every Noyac Knits piece represents a conscious choice to invest in American fashion and sustainable practices. We chose to use premium, environmentally-friendly imported yarns, to knit our pieces in the United States and support American suppliers from New York's historic fashion district, and hand-select and add special ribbon detail. All of this increases the cost of production. The bottom line is: every Noyac Knits piece represents a conscious choice to invest in American fashion and sustainable practices.
