If its not obvious from our website, we love striped grosgrain ribbon. So we thought, why not use it to trim sweaters? We want to tell you something about a few of our sweaters — something that doesn't quite fit in a product description but feels important to share.
Many of our sweaters come in limited supply because of the ribbon trim, made in the U.S., that is either vintage or no longer in production. That means when the ribbon runs out, we no longer offer the color combination. For example, the Mary Crop Cardigan in Merino, the Holly Puff-Sleeve Cardigan, and the Channing Boatneck Sweater are each finished with a grosgrain ribbon that is unique and in limited supply. Part of the fun of wearing a Noyac Knits ribbon sweater is knowing that there are only small batches made in each ribbon/color combination. Unique pieces made to cherish.

Fair question. It's a trim detail — why are we writing a whole blog post about it?
Because the ribbon is our signature flourish and elevates the style of each sweater. It gives each piece a quiet, considered polish and a throwback vibe.
Every ribbon-trimmed sweater is finished by hand (with the aide of a sewing machine). Each length is cut and applied individually — there's no automated process involved. The button holes then have to be made through the ribbon trim. This process means no two sweaters are perfectly identical. The ribbon may sit slightly differently. The stripe may align in its own way. That's not a flaw. That's just what handwork looks like, and we think it's part of the charm.

Each ribbon-trimmed sweater is made to order with the supply of sweaters in the colorway tied directly to our ribbon supply. The grosgrain ribbons we use are either vintage or sourced from U.S. mills that no longer produce them or from deadstock. Once a ribbon runs out, that colorway is permanently retired from our collection.
